So this one starts off with a serial rapist being on the loose.
Then we get into a vigalente justice thing where people are dressed up as super heroes to defend the people.
One suspect, but not the serial rapist got messed up by one of the vigalentes, then they did it a second time.
Now two of the vigalentes got attacked.
We have a sub plot where Amaro is following his wife out at a bistro having a drink with another veteran.
They have a minor confrontation about where she was.
Now cut to a straight up reference to Treyvon Martin case, where vigalentes are the bad guys. Interesting.
Guy associated with the vigalentes has a set of curved scissors- poultry scissors that might be a match for the perps weapon.
Cut to Amaro being in Philly and punching out the guy his wife had lunch with (which yes I know is a precious victims dad, but that’s not important here other than to establish this man’s association with amaros wife).
When Amaro snuck off, he asked Amanda to cover for him. When he shows up after punching the guy Amanda asks him if he feels better when she sees it.
Because Amaro is off dealing with his shit, Amanda is starting to have more of a role in this.
She’s catching on to what Amaros issue might be.
The victim super hero lady is covering for her man who’s she’s seeing is married.
She’s trying to explain how he couldn’t be the one that raped her.
Amaro’s wife shows up at the bull pen and she threw a bunch of shit on the floor on the desk.
Munch says something that’s kinda not great, “And this is why I don’t marry Italian women anymore”
So Amaro’s wife in the confrontation is admitting to what’s going on. She’s seeing a shrink, talking to a fellow vet about her feelings, and she hid it because she didn’t trust her husband to not freak out. But he freaked out. Specifically she cites him thinking things are perfect all the time but they aren’t.
So Amaro is the bad guy. I think this is when they are trying to switch him to be the fill in for Stabler, but offering a look at a situation to talk through toxic masculinity stuff.
This perp seemingly is obsessed with the girl who was playing super heroes with the guy.
The perp did all of this shit for a crazy scheme to impress her.
Meh. Overall episode feels very 1 note, but more about Amaro’s personal plot line. That’s fine.
